PERFUME CHEAP!

Okay ladies, I know we're all feeling the financial crunch. Maybe we've had to skip a highlighting appointment or two to save a few bucks. Times are tough for us gals out there right now. That doesn't mean we have to give up all of our little luxuries that make us feel pretty, however. Namely our cosmetics and fragrances. Forget it! Believe me, I feel your pretty pain.

My husband doesn't understand me at times. He'll sit there and scoff as I spray myself with one of my favorite perfumes, and believe me, I have many. He'll ask, "Why do you need to douse yourself with that stuff"? I just smile coyly as I walk past him. Then suddenly a big smile will come over his face as the aroma of Channel Allure tickles his nose, the fragrance I was wearing when we met 23 years ago.The power of fragrance can make a man weak in the knees. We all know that ladies, don't we?

Our sense of smell is the strongest of all our senses. It can invoke pleasant memories of past loves, or present loves. It can uplift our spirits. When we're not feeling at our most attractive for whatever reason, a little spray of your favorite fragrance can make you feel luxurious and attractive again.

I have always loved perfume for as long as I can remember. I loved going to the department store with my mother on a Saturday afternoon and seeing all the ornate bottles. I would wonder what marvelous aromas were inside each one. As my mother would speak with the perfume salesperson and try on various fragrances, I would plead with her to let me try it as well. She would smile and spray a tiny bit on my neck. As we would walk through the store I remember feeling like a queen. Whenever I smell a woman wearing Channel No. 5, to this day it brings back memories of those times my mother and I shared.

My daughters share my affinity for fragrance as well, but times have changed, and no trips to the shopping mall. The girls are too busy with college and boyfriends. They just tell me what they like, and good old mom gets it for them. Beth likes Juicy Couture and Sarah likes Christian Dior. 

The price of cosmetics and designer fragrances have become astronomical. At one point I thought they were putting liquid gold into these bottles. My last trip to the mall did it for me, and I became fed up. We have to put two girls through school and pay a mortgage, but I'm not going to deny myself, or my daughters the girlie pleasures in life. I decided right then and there to look elsewhere for my cosmetics and designer fragrance needs.

I truly understand what it's like to have to juggle things to make ends meet. Believe me, it's not easy having daughters with champagne taste. If you're a single mom with a daughter of your own, I feel for you. My sister is also in that position. She is always telling me that she just wants to feel attractive and desirable again. If you're a young girl on a budget, and you want nice perfume, you don't have to spend an arm a leg anymore.

I know I'm not saving the world here, but things are just really tough all around for a lot of people. I just thought I'd share a little something that is so simple, but brings me so much joy. We have the right to feel pretty and feminine no matter what is going on in our own lives. That's why we're women and not men. We as 

women have to put up with a lot of stuff in life, and we need to treat ourselves to these little luxuries at times.
